TRANSITION HAIR: fall styles to wear NOW!

GREETINGS, DARLINGS!

Can you believe it?  We're cruising through another incredible Maine summer, but fall's fashions have already been unveiled on catwalks around the world.  We've been seeing some seriously amazing autumn trends that work right now as well.  Update your style with something that will carry your coif courageously into the cooler weather; it doesn't take much!  Read on for some of our favorite transitional trends!

THE FRINGE:

Personally, I'm always a fan of some fabulous fringe.  It's one of the easiest and least committal ways to spruce up your style, and this fall its all about framing that beautiful face of yours.  And be bold!  The most current way to wear fringe is heavy and rounded, as seen on the runways of Marni, Elie Saab, and Kate Spade.  So haute.

THE SHORT HAIRCUT:

This cut has been EVERYWHERE lately, and with good reason!  This short and soft crop is so easy to wear, and is universally flattering!  The shape follows the roundness of the head, and can be worn a million and one ways.  You might remember this style from Krissy's cut awhile back, and its been gaining popularity since!  Talk to your pro about what works best for you.  GORGEOUS!

Long fringe, smoothed texture.

Balmain f/w '12, textured layers.

Piecey fringe, soft volume.

Sharp and polished with fringe.

THE STYLE:

Sleek, slick, and smooth is the name of the styling game next season.  Not looking to rid your self of length?  STYLE IT, my dear! Go for understated glam with glossy locks; works on all lengths from short to long, and can even be incorporated with a ponytail!  With lower humidity on the way, this style is a welcome contrast to the summer's relaxed texture.

NAILED IT: whats new and now in nails!

Hey darlings!

We at Ferricchia are excited to announce that we are offering nail services!  We proudly carry Essie nail polish and Young Nails Gel polish, and this week to welcome our natural nail artist, Tori, we're going to talk about trends for your tips and fun for your fingers.  Whats new and now in nails?  Tori is here to tell us!

Essie summer collection!

Brighten up:

Its summertime, our digits are on display, so why not make them pop?   "Orange is everywhere," Tori says, "go by your comfort level."  Soft, peachy oranges and corals look great with a tan, and is a sweeter alternative for those shy of brights.  Look for an orange with red undertones for pale skin.

Essie Fear or Desire, summer 2012

Essie Orange, Its Obvious

Turquoise is still having its moment, too, but look to all things aqua-inspired to keep it fresh.  Periwinkle, ocean blue, and deep sea green all offer a cooly similar vibe to the new sea-foam standby.

GIMME GLITTER!

Lately we've been seeing an increase in glitz and glitter; everything has a layer of light reflection over it!  The best part about summertime sparkle?  "Its a fun and unexpected way to dress up your nails," Tori says, "perfect for wedding season!"  Layer it over a soft, pale pink for a more formal venue, or simply spice up your current fave!

Another on-trend treat for your tips?  Adding an accent nail!  "Accent nails are changing," according to Tori, "for instance, a french-manicure with a bright, or just one nail glittered."  There are no rules, just fun!

Bronze glitter, peach nails!

Ask your pro about incorporating a nail art accent!

Silver glitter accent, pearly pink nail color.

Tori is available for nail services Tuesday through Saturday.  Call to book your manicure or pedicure today!  AND its the perfect way to spend your processing time during your next color service.  We hope to see you soon, beautiful babes!

Hair Come The Brides!

Hair Come The Brides!

The sun is shining, the flowers have bloomed; whether indoor or outdoor, summer is the most beautiful time for love and matrimony! Brides, while we know you're busy planning your big day, we've decided to give you the low-down on all the bridal-minded bliss we've been brainstorming for you here at Ferricchia!

There are lots of new trends on the rise this spring/summer! Some intimidating, but never the less inspiring. Although some looks are bold, or may take you out of your comfort zone, we are here to help you customize a look that works with the overall style or theme of your wedding day while keeping in mind your personal style and how to make you look like you, at your best! I'm a firm believer in simplicity and elegance to help you feel your absolute most beautiful on your big day. Allow me to narrow down some of my favorite bridal styles for these summer months that will undoubtedly make any bride feel like a goddess.

Go Glam: Madmen Inspired

Betty Draper. Why she's always frowning with such perfect hair: BEATS ME! I believe this style would be unexpected and crowd mesmerizing for bobbed ladies. Got long hair? No worries, we know precisely how to pull this off for you with a faux bob!

Always breathtaking Joan Holloway. Ultra-glam updo, yet with very sophisticated softness.

Finishing Touches: How To Do The Headband

The lace, the volume, the bangs; I'm obsessed with this.

Simply curled lengths keep it simple in contrast to this elaborate hairpiece.

A larger headband can feel fresh when paired with a loose, tousled, backswept style.

Liking both of these trends? Combine the two! Retro-glam and headband collab!

How stunning for our pixie princesses?!

Some sparkle can add dimension that shows off texture within a style.

Braided Maidens

What could be more perfect for an outdoor summer wedding? Also, I'm in love the bare eye, defined lashes, and bold berry lip color.

Braided headband with tousled volume; a pretty way to show off bangs.

I'm picturing this waterfall braid peeking from beneath a vail; gorgeous. The rest of the lengths can be loosely waved or perfectly coiled to personalize the look.

There you have it pretty princesses; three of my favorite styles for bridal hair. As you can see, there are countless variations on each. Whether incorporating these trends into something soft and subtle or going all out and on-trend for our stand-out seekers, the opportunities for you to stun are endless! We are here for our brides and party-goers alike, fully equipped with curling iron and make-up brushes in hand!

Questions, consultations, and curious inquiries are all welcome.
We can't wait to try these!

TRY THIS AT HOME: Put a Sock In It!

HELLO, FAITHFUL FERRICCHIA-ITES!

Ok, I've been so excited to tell you about this trick I tried over the weekend!  We all know how chic and now the top knot chignon is.  Personally, my hair is too short to do a big, bangin' bun...OR SO I THOUGHT!

Apparently, Rachel Ray said something about this on her show a couple weeks ago (I don't have television, so I obviously missed said episode), but I learned this from a fabulously fashionable femme I met at a networking event!  Are you ready to put a sock in it?!

Start with a (clean, plz) sock:  Choose a color close to that of your hair color so it blends in easier.
1. Cut off the toe.

2. Tie your hair in a pony tail at your desired height.

3.  Put your newly crafted tube sock over your ponytail.

4.  Wrap hair into a bun as you normally would, folding over the sock-filler, and fasten with pins!

TADA! TOP-KNOT PERFECTION AT ANY LENGTH!

How about them apples, err...buns?  How about them buns?  YES!
Try it, darlings, you won't believe how easy achieving perfection can be.

And as always,
Thank you for tuning in to this week's Fringe with Ferricchia!

Hope to see you soon, beauties!

Product of the Month: PROTECTING YOUR COLOR with PHYTOCITRUS

Hey there, beauties!

Yowzers! Have you been outside today?  GLORIOUSLY UNSEASONABLE!  And I love it.

Last week I told y'all about a fun new coloring technique.  This week I'm here to tell you how to make that color last during the upcoming sunny season with our Product(s) of the Month: Phytocitrus shampoo & mask and Phytomist!  Incorporate these into your daily Phyto regime and you'll surely be sparkling in the sunlight.

So you've scheduled your color appointment with one of our stylish, beautiful, funny, talented, charming stylists at Ferricchia.  After a color service, the hair is left in an alkaline pH state, as opposed to its usual 4.5-5.5 pH.

HERE'S WHERE IT GETS COOL!

Phytocitrus shampoo contains grapefruit extract, and uses acidity from the citrus fruit to restore the pH balance in your hair!  Phytocitrus shampoo also contains a UV filter to protect your color from fading.  This treatment shampoo should be used the following 4 washes after your color service, and once a week after that.

So we successfully reduced the alkalinity of our hair.  After the shampoo is rinsed, Phytocitrus mask is applied to towel dried hair.  This super nourishing, restructuring conditioner seals the previously opened hair cuticle, locking in your freshy-fresh tint job!  Use in conjunction with the Phytocitrus shampoo 4 washes post color service. Phytocitrus mask can be used as your daily conditioner after that!

Now you get to hear me rave about one of my favorite Phyto products:

Phytomist is a spray on, leave in moisturizer that can be applied anytime, anywhere.  There was awhile where I would literally carry it EVERYWHERE with me.
But get this!  Phytomist contains sunflower extract to prevent further oxidation of hair color, lotus flower to hydrate, and red algae to fight off feisty free radicals.

And it smells like heaven.
And its perfect for all hair types and textures.
And I love it.
And you, of course, my darlings.
Here's to another gorgeous day.  We hope to see you soon!

xoxo
